Football fans in the valley are getting ready for a big afternoon of prairie rivalry football as Challenge Cup 2026 kicks off this Monday, May 18th, at Lumsden High School. Team Saskatchewan will take on Team Manitoba in what is expected to be a hard-hitting showcase of some of the top 9-man football talent on the prairies.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM, and organizers are encouraging families, football supporters, and local residents to come out and support the athletes. Admission to the event is free, making it an easy way for the community to experience high-level amateur football right here in Lumsden. The event will also feature a 50/50 draw during the game.
Challenge Cup events have become an important part of football development across Western Canada, giving athletes an opportunity to represent their province while competing against some of the best young players from neighboring regions. Football Saskatchewan and Football Manitoba continue to use events like this to help develop athletes and grow the game at the grassroots level.
The game is also another major football event for the Lumsden area, which has built a strong reputation for supporting amateur football over the years. Local excitement has been growing online throughout the week, with organizers and community members promoting the matchup across social media ahead of Monday’s kickoff.
According to organizers, a livestream of the game is also expected to be available, with details expected to be released closer to kickoff. A YouTube event page for the matchup has already appeared online promoting the Team Saskatchewan versus Team Manitoba game from Lumsden High School.
For football fans, it is shaping up to be one of the bigger local sporting events of the spring season, bringing provincial pride, community spirit, and prairie football tradition together on one field.
