Pair from Regina Beach arrested after fleeing police in stolen SUV

ree

A man and woman from Regina Beach have been arrested and are now facing multiple charges after a stolen vehicle investigation turned into a multi-community police pursuit across eastern Saskatchewan.

The case began last Thursday when Lumsden RCMP received a report of an SUV stolen from the driveway of a Regina Beach home. Over the weekend, new information led officers to believe the vehicle was still on the move.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Melville RCMP were alerted that the SUV was spotted near the town. Officers located it travelling along Highway 10 and attempted to pull it over. The driver refused to stop, avoiding several police attempts to intercept the vehicle.

Police then deployed a tire deflation device near Foam Lake. The SUV hit the device but continued on, striking several police vehicles in the process before finally coming to a halt in a field near Elfros. Both occupants were taken into custody at the scene. Despite the collisions, no RCMP officers were injured, though multiple police vehicles sustained damage.

Charged individuals

34-year-old Levi of Regina Beach has been charged with:

possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

flight from a peace officer

dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

three counts of assault on a police officer with a weapon

A 33-year-old Regina Beach woman has been charged with:

possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Both suspects were also arrested in connection with a separate vehicle theft reported to White Butte RCMP on September 28.

In addition, Bast-Kozar faces further charges linked to another stolen vehicle case reported to White Butte RCMP on September 25.

Both individuals were scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on Monday.
